National chairperson

TDr. Gladys Muntu Segage

I am Gladys Muntu Segage from Etwatwa in Gauteng province. I am a Traditional Health Practitioner by profession and currently serve as the Traditional Healers Organization’s National Chairperson of the board of directors. I am also a Senior Promoter in the organization and the leader of THO Daveyton Branch.

I am an executive member of the provincial Faith Based Organization “FBO” and working with South African National Civic Organization “SANCO” at community level in Ekurhuleni. Since my election as National chairperson I have pushed for organization to be amongst the best in the whole of Africa using my experience as a long-time serving member of the organization.

Deputy Chairperson

TDr. Mbongeni Jerry Sibiya

I am Mbongeni Jerry Sibiya a Traditional Health Practitioner by profession and a member of THO. I was initiated in 2000 and started practicing in 2003. I currently serve as the Deputy Chairperson of THO board and since my appointment I have been committed to helping the organization meet its objectives.

I hold a National certificate in municipal financial management and N5 Business management certificate. I am a former Mayor of Abaqulusi and Zulu Land District municipalities and a member of Observer mission in Africa where I am responsible for conflict resolution and general elections.

Secretary

TDr. John Gwizo Sithole

I am John Gwizo Sithole from Hammanskraal and I am a Traditional Health Practitioner with 37 years of practicing experience as a THP. Currently I serve as the Secretary of the THO Board of Directors.

I am the secretary of Moretele Sub-district under the Department Of Health, a data capturer at Lefatlheng clinic and also a Director of Sithole legacy. As a senior member of the organization it’s my duty to work hard for its better growth and success.

TDr. Nobongile Kakayo

I am Nobongile Kakayo from KZN province and a Traditional Health Practitioner. I started practicing in 1989 and in 2003 I joined the Traditional Healers Organization as a fully registered member. Currently I serve as a member of the THO board and I’m also the chairperson of THO KZN province branch.

I am also the treasurer in the ANC Women’s League one of the biggest organisation in the country and I’m also a member of the 21 Clinic in Umlazi, Durban.

TDr. Derrick Thulani Shangase

I am Derrick Thulani Shangase from Kwazulu Natal Province. I am a Traditional Health Practitioner and started practicing in 1986. I currently serve as the THO national DC Chairperson and I am also the organization’s District chairperson in Ethekwini District KZN.

I hold a certification in trauma counseling and doctorate in Theology. I am a marriage officer and a senior shop steward for a period of 17 years.

TDr. Gloria Sithembiso Nene

I am Gloria Sithembiso Nene born in Glencoe in KwaZulu Natal currently serves as THO’s CEO and also a Senior Promoter in the organisation.

I am an entrepreneur with certification from Innovation Hub in Pretoria for my indigenous products and a contract of re- designing, Branding and Marketing. In 2017 and 2018 I had an opportunity to visit India and represented South African Traditional Health Practitioners to share with other continents knowledge about traditional healing. I am also an Indigenous Knowledge System Expert and a Chairperson of the RPL. I also serve as a Chairperson from the Tribal Authority Committee representing the Traditional Healers Organization “THO” and Traditional Health Practitioners at large.

Since my appointment as the CEO, my personal interest is to see the organisation’s growth doubled and the recognition of all Traditional health Practitioners.

The national Chairperson and his /her fellow Board members are responsible for making sure the mission of the organisation is met. They act in the best interests of our members, stakeholders and partners, making sure that they deliver on our mandate and also provide direction for the organisation in its humanitarian mission and services.
