Advice, Advocacy and Lobbying

The Advice, Advocacy and Lobbying programme is the effective way for the organisation to create awareness about the impact, positive or negative, of public policy on Traditional Health Practitioners, individuals and communities. The organisation uses its knowledge and expertise in community-based issues to advocate and lobby. Through this programme the organisation is educating and creating awareness among legislators and the public on issues facing the Traditional Health Practitioners, community and the importance of aligning public policy to address the need. 

The programme focuses on campaigns that includes Witchcraft Based Violence, Gender-Based Violence and calling upon all Traditional Health Practitioners to act against the killing of people living with albinism. 

Traditional Primary Healthcare Training Programme

The organisation developed a training programme called the Traditional Primary Healthcare Training Programme (TPHTP), which is offered to joining THPs through a 5 days training workshop. This programme focuses mainly on primary healthcare which is vital to any health practitioner. All THPs who attend the workshop are awarded with a certificate of attendance from the organisation. The content of training is:

  • Environmental Sanitation
  • Environment Management – Conserving Nature
  • Control of Diarrhea Diseases (CDD) 
  • HIV/AIDS, TB and STIs
  • Family Planning
  • Improving referral systems for all health sectors, 
  • Malaria Prevention 
  • Corona Virus / COVID-19 

Heritage, Arts and Culture

The Heritage, Arts and Culture programme is implemented by hosting a Bangoma Dance Festival, sensitizing Traditional Health Practitioners “THPs” and individuals about the importance of the protection of heritage sites. The organization also host training events on Cultural preservation and promoting Indigenous Knowledge Systems.

Environmental Management

This programme is build capacity of THPs on how to conserve nature and environment. THO trains Traditional Health Practitioners on sacred and protected animals and all species according to environment management and biodiversity regulations

Research, Information and Knowledge Management

The main objective of the programme is to promote knowledge and knowledge management. Researchers are brought to the organisation to do research on Traditional Health Practices and this helps the organisation in gaining more knowledge and crucial information that will be needed in the near future.

Organisation Building and Campaigns

In Organisation Building and Campaigns we strive to obtain, retain and improve membership and skills and knowledge crucial to accomplishing a set of strategic objectives – which are most often to build a scalable and sustainable NGO. The organization building or organization development help the organization with ambitions of growth to realize its dreams. It improves sustainability, strength and scalability of THO. This is done by conducting provincial campaigns.
